About these Courses:

Please note these are Live, Virtual trainings. They will not be available for delayed viewing.

Over the years, we have had many requests from clinicians wanting to take either the R-TEP or the G-TEP as a standalone course. We still believe the trainings are more powerful when taken together, but we are excited to now provide the option of taking either or both training days. We will offer this option only a couple of times a year.

What to Expect:

Each training leads you step by step through research validated protocols for working with survivors of recent trauma. The R-TEP protocol focuses on working with individuals and the G-TEP focuses on group applications in a number of configurations and settings. These protocols and techniques blend seamlessly to meet a range of needs including assessment, stabilization, individual reprocessing, and group reprocessing. No matter what your circumstances are for delivery of therapy, you'll learn where to start and how to progress through multiple treatment options.

In the Recent Traumatic Episodes Protocol Training, Participants Will Learn to:

  • Identify when Early EMDR Intervention is appropriate.
  • Compare the EMDR standard protocol and EMDR R-TEP protocol.
  • Apply Early EMDR clinical skills with additional measures for containment and safety.
  • Describe EMD, EMDr, EMDR and how each is applied.
  • Identify key features and concepts for the R-TEP protocol.
  • Use key procedures for the R-TEP protocol.

The EMDR R-TEP protocol is applied when a recent event has occurred that requires containment and additional assistance with integration beyond the standard protocol. It is a comprehensive approach to treating recent events in the belief that serious trauma symptoms may be prevented by receiving early interventions. The protocol contains built in checks to address stuck points quickly while recognizing the importance of meeting the clients where they are and taking it step by step. It is a comprehensive approach to treating recent events in the belief that serious trauma symptoms are prevented by receiving early interventions.

In the Group Traumatic Episodes Protocol Training, Participants Will Learn to:

  • Identify and comprehend key features and concepts of the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP).
  • Demonstrate the bilateral movements within the G-TEP protocol utilizing the G-TEP worksheet.
  • Use key procedures for the G-TEP protocol.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) in their clinical practice.
  • Evaluate the significance of the G-TEP and Early Intervention.
  • Identify resources for further support in the application of R-TEP/G-TEP.

The EMDR G-TEP protocol is a group application useful for groups including couples, families, and those impacted by a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster or act of violence. It can be used in the field or in settings such as hospitals, IOP, and/or Behavioral Health.

Why Take These Courses?

  • Receive the latest manuals, including protocols, scripts, and worksheets updated by co-creator Elan Shapiro this year.
  • Experience expanded practice time and support to develop your skills.
  • Understand how to respond effectively to traumatic events experienced both by your clients and your community.
  • Learn creative applications, such as using G-TEP for couples.

Prerequisite: Participants must have completed EMDR Basic Training with an EMDRIA-approved training provider.
